Why do they spell the Sci-Fi Channel as the "Sy-Fy" Channel? etc?

It used to be called the Sci-Fi Channel, but they were concerned that the name would restrict them to broadcasting only science fiction programming. They changed the name to the Sy-Fy Channel so they could broadcast programmes that weren't science fiction in order to gather more viewers.
